Comprehensive Site Assessments and Auditing is a comprehensive full-day session that will deliver the required competencies to develop and deploy a site audit system that is specific to your culture. Just being in compliance with the applicable federal laws, state statutes and local municipal rules only brings an organization to a satisfactory level.
The main goal of the Comprehensive Site Assessments and Auditing Course is to enable organizations to significantly increase their ability to identify workplace deficiencies and also those areas that are performing well in an effort to meet and exceed compliance standards. Providing the proper competencies to those responsible for auditing and measuring occupational safety performance will enable the organization to meet its obligations under the law and hopefully lead to increased safety, morale and quality, translating into a increased profitability.
Some organizations believe this in itself is adequate protection for its employees, customers and/or public-at-large. Others have developed a sense of social responsibility to move beyond the satisfactory requirements of the law and instill a “total safety culture”, capable of significant improvement within their company and leading to improved moral and increased profitability.
This course will cover several components that should be explored when contemplating an audit system within an organization. These include defining stakeholders, developing action mechanisms for improvement areas, and aspects of legally protecting your work.
The objectives of this one-day course include:
- Define the purpose of a safety and health audit program.
- Understand the various methodologies of auditing and gain the perspective and application of error management.
- Describe OSHA’s Self-Audit Policy and the various interpretations of the policy clarification provided by the agency.
- Learn the background and specifics of the OSHAct and how to read OSHA standards published in the Federal Register.
- Articulate the elements that comprise a safety and health audit system.
- Describe the legal considerations for conducting self audits, including methods for protecting documentation and steps to minimize the effects of disclosure.
- Understand the various elements of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program’s (VPP).
